Antarctica: The Frozen Continent

Av Alison Blyth

Antarctica is the most unusual continent on Earth. It has a tiny population, and doesn't have a single sovereign country. It is governed by the Antarctic Treaty, and lots of countries have research bases there. Not many animals can survive the cold temperatures and inhospitable conditions, but it is home to large numbers of penguins and seals. The continent is very important to scientists who want to understand more about the history of Earth's climate.
